Meet The Player: Tyrese Haliburton (2018)
Q: How has the experience on the PowerAde Circuit been for you?
Tyrese: It’s been a lot better than I expected, I didn’t expect (talented) teams like this, I thought we would win it easily but it’s some really good competition and we have had some good games so far.
Q: I saw quite a few D1 schools in the building to watch you play, what’s your recruitment been like so far?
Tyrese: It’s been real good, I have about 11 or 12 offers now, I don’t know exactly how many but I’ve been getting a lot of college interest. It’s really cool see all the hard work pay off so I’m enjoying going through the whole process.
Q: What do you feel that you bring to a college program and what you bring to your AAU team now?
Tyrese: Just a player that knows how to facilitate and communicate with his teammates and coaches, the ability to keep my team in games and does whatever he can to get a win.
Q: You guys are from Wisconsin so that a pretty lengthy trip to Charlotte, how do you guys stay fresh as a team with so much basketball you guys have to play in a short amount of time?
Tyrese: Just hanging out we all are really good friends so we just kind of hang out in the hotel, relax, play 2K, just having fun, you have to enjoy this whole experience at the same time.
Q: Favorite shoe to play in?
Tyrese: That’s tough but right now I Would say the PG’s Paul George shoe, they’re a really comfortable shoe.
Who is a player that you watch and kind’ve model your game after?
Tyrese: I think Lonzo Ball, I think there are a lot of similarities between us two and I’ve heard some people compare the playing styles, we both have unorthodox forms and facilitate real well. Quite a few coaches have told me I play like him and I’m trying to take some things from his game but also be unique in myself with how I play.
