Jayhawk Invitational: Big men (Thursday)
Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the top big men to compete this week at the Jayhawk Invitational in Overland Park.
2018 PLAYERS
Big men
Yor Anei, 6’10, PF, 2018, Team Rush
Anei is a huge presence in the paint and continues to progress as an offensive player. He is a defensive minded player with good timing and instincts as a shot blocker, and an improving player at the offensive end of the court.
Davion Bradford, 6’10, C, 2020, CBC (Mo.) Brad Beal Elite
Bradford might be the top 2020 prospect in Missouri. He has a big, strong frame and at 6’10 has the size to play at a high major level in the future. He doesn’t quite have explosive lift, but is still young and that might come in time. He does a terrific job of keeping the ball high, and has a nice scoring touch around the basket.
Joshua Earley, 6’7, PF, 2019, Bishop Miege (Kan.) KC Run GMC
Stong, powerful forward with a big frame that projects well as he gets older. Earley combines terrific size with some explosiveness and has put together a strong summer. He currently holds an offer from Denver and has heard from several other Division I programs.
Kennan Fitzmorris, 6’10, C, 2018, St. James (Kan.) KC Run GMC
Fitzmorris really played well on Thursday afternoon in a contest against Martin Brothers. A long, rangy 6’10 interior player, Fitzmorris showed off a 3-point shooting stroke and with a soft shooting touch. He has a lot of length and agility and despite a slender frame does a good job of holding his own defensively in the paint.
Jacob Owen, 6’9, F/C, 2020, Blue Valley (Kan.) KC Run GMC
Owen has terrific size and frame and is an active, athletic big man. He runs the floor extremely well and is a good finisher around the bucket. Still needs to get stronger and work a little on his inside game, but has a world of potential.
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, 6’8, PF, Bishop Miege (Kan.) KC Run GMC
2019 forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl had one of the better rebounding games you’ll see on Wednesday against Team Rush. Six minutes into the second half, Robinson-Earl had 16 rebounds, four more than Team Rush had as a team. A 6’8 forward, Robinson has a nose for the ball and really pursues it on both ends of the court. He has terrific hands and anything he gets a hand on he usually comes up with. Offensively he has terrific footwork and a strong all-around skill set.
