Event Recap: NW PANTHERS vs Boise Slam Sanor
Team Avery Bradley NW PANTHERS 75
Boise Slam Sanor 51
The NW PANTERS 15u was one of the most impressive teams in that division. Prior to the start of the game I noticed that the panthers were missing a few players. They stated the game with only 4 players and ran with 4 for about 5-7 minutes. Even with 4 players they were able to control the game. Mainly because of the play by Bradley Graham. The Panthers have a whole team of talented players. They pressured the ball most of the game which allowed them to get easy transition buckets off of steals. They ran a spread offense utilizing there excellent guards who can penetrate and create shots for themselves and others. The score didn’t tell the whole story. Boise scored 35 of those 51 points in the first half and went on a run when the panthers only had 4 players. In the second half the panthers put the pressure on and used there afterburners to increase the lead and take Boise out of the game.
The Boise Slam Sanor was coached by Jeff Sanor and had their hands full with the panthers. What stood out to me about there team was the pace of the game they chose to play at. They had some bigger players who could pound the glass a little more than panthers, so they tried to play inside out. When they went on a run early in the first half there post were able to front the panthers defenders and receive a couple lob passes for quick and easy buckets. Once the panthers realized how much more athletic they were, they stated to use their speed and pushed the temp up quite a bit. The Slam showed some signs of life in the second half when they went on a 12-2 run with 11 minutes left in the game by slowing down the game and trying to reestablish that low post presence. In the end it wasn’t enough to capitalize and make a comeback.
