Adidas Gauntlet Day 2
Prep Hoops took in action on Day 2 from the Adidas Gauntlet. Here is a breakdown of some players from the Palmetto State.
Zion Williamson came back after being hurt for several weeks and scored 31 points in 72-66 win over Team Knight (FL). Williamson played like he never left. Williamson helped to build a 31-29 lead at half. Dontarius James (Huntington Prep) 14 points. Team Knight took a 59-58 lead with three minutes left in the game. Trevor Hensley of Unicoi County (TN) hit two quick threes to give the Supreme the lead for good at 64-59 with 1:30 left. Hensley finished the game with 14 points. Ahkeem Lawson (Lakewood) and Magic Moody (Greer) each had four points. Supreme won the game and advanced to play Game Elite 2019.
2nd Round action was a battle of the next two years recruiting class No.1 prospect in the state of South Carolina. Williamson scored a team high 32 points in the loss. Christian Brown (A.C. Flora) scored 15 points and Calvin Felder (Sumter) added nine points to help lead Game Elite 2019 to a 73-57 win. Brown is ranked #1 in the 2019 Palmetto State Class.
Jimmy Nichols (Conway) scored 20 points in the opener for Garner Road. Garner Road defeated New World 75-66. Nichols added 10 points in the night cap in a loss to Dream Vision.
Ryan Carfley (Wilson) chipped in 6 points in both games for Garner Road. Carfley recently transferred over to Wilson HS from Creek Bridge HS.
Karolina Khaos came out in game 1 and defeated Florida Sons 78-64 in the opener. Dontrell Shuler (Legacy Charter) led the way with 27 points for the Karolina Khaos.
Dontrell Shuler scored 15 points in the 73-60 loss to D1 Minnesota. Tajah Fraley (2017) added 12 points and Eric Burks (Stratford) chipped in 10 points. Fraley played last season at 22FT Academy.
