“Who’s Got Next” Brooklyn Hicks Spotlight
When you ask any middle school kid what sport they love to play, your average kid will name every sport in the book. Brooklyn Hicks is different. Hicks has known that basketball is his sport from an early age. His last pediatrician told him when his growth is all said and done he should be close to 6 foot 8. Therefore, height will not be an issue. An already deceptive quick first step and ball handling ability far ahead of his peers. Brooklyn Hicks is on our, “WHO’s GOT NEXT SPOTLIGHT.”
An up and coming middle schooler from Lacey, WA, Brooklyn is looking to continue his growth and development on and off the court. He’s set to suit up for Timberline High School in the next two years, where his brother Cole is currently a student-athlete.
“This past season I have been more a vocal leader on and off the court. As captain of the team I have to continue to set the right example especially heading into middle school ball where I will playing with [13u and 14u players].”
On June 9-11, Brooklyn will be competing in the ROSE CITY SHOWCASE by NIKE in PORTLAND, OR along with other high profile AAU organizations up and down the I5 corridor. Playing for the NDO HORNETS an organization started by his dad to provide youth development and tournament play. Brooklyn looks to continue his already very impressive AAU season.
“My speed and ball handling is what sets me aside from other players my age. This season our team placed first or second in all of our tournaments. Were ready to take the bigger stage and show what we can do.”
I asked Brooklyn, “If you had to choose one college you could play for. Who would that college be?” “He stated, OREGON STATE. If I had to play anywhere it would be OREGON STATE because I would be closer to family and friends.”
Here are a couple of videos during a training session with his dad Khalid Hicks.
