Riverdale Baptist Player Notes from MD Team Games
This weekend on June 10 & 11 the University of Maryland hosted the Maryland Team Games high school basketball tournament at the University of Maryland Xfinity Center in College Park, MD. Top high school teams from Washington, DC, Maryland and Pennsylvania participated. Teams were placed in different brackets which included, the Steve Blake bracket, Jake Layman bracket, Dez Wells bracket, Melo Trimble bracket, Juan Dixon bracket and the Diamond Stone bracket.
Riverdale Baptist HS, Upper Marlboro, MD.
Riverdale Baptist HS defeated highly touted WER1 75-65 to win the Maryland Team Camp Dez Wells bracket on Sunday June 11, 2017.
6’7″ 2018 Forward David McCullough scored 11 PTS which included 3 FGs and 5-5 from the line, 5 rebounds & 1 block. 6’7″ 2018 F, Wayne Bristol hit 4 of 6 FGs for 11 points, grabbed 3 rebounds & had 2 steals for the Crusaders. 5’10” 2018 PG Donvan Toatley and 5’8″ PG Ayan Teel handled WER1s ball pressure and made key plays for the Crusaders. 6’6.5″ O’Connell transfer, D”Marco Bacum was a force inside and was a big factor in neutralizing WER1, 6’7″ top 100 PF, Eric Dixon. Riverdale was missing one of their best players in 6’9″ highly rated Tyree Samuel who is currently in Canada, but will return soon. Tyree was awarded 5th team All DMV I-495 by Prep Hoops this spring, but Tyree is likely to move up to possibly 1st Team this year like his senior Crusader teammate 6’3.5″ WG Deion Hammond, was awarded who will play at D1 Monmouth this coming year.
The Crusaders have long history of outstanding basketball in the Washington, DC area and are led by 18 year Head Coach Louis Wilson who has reached the 700 win mark in his career. This past season Riverdale Baptist finished at 32-8 and won the Maryland Private School Championship defeating Rock Creek Christian Academy. Both Riverdale & Rock Creek who are major rivals have the potential to be ranked in the nations top 50 teams and perhaps higher.
Riverdale has an excellent tradition and Coach Wilson has coached many great players at Riverdale, such as Michael Beasley (NBA), Chinanaku Onuaku (NBA), Thomas Robinson (NBA), Nolan Smith (NBA & Duke Assistant Coach) and Sheray Thomas (Kentucky).
We will be providing Recruiting Reports for the following players Riverdale Baptist HS players in the next month:

David McCullogh, 6’7″, SF, 2018. David excels in the transition & has come a long way while at Riverdale Baptist. David is very crafty and a rim attacker who will throw dunk rim rattling dunks. He already holds offers from JMU, Towson, Northern Iowa, JMU & Northern Illinois.
Wayne Bristol, 6’7″, F, 2018. Wayne played SF with David last season and he is another Riverdale Baptist prototype explosive rim attacker & dunker, who can make elite passes with his great court vision.
D’Marco Baucum, 6’6″, F, 2018. D”Maco is a rising senior versatile forward with an excellent upside. He can really set in and defend 6’8′ & 6’9″ players with his powerful build and post up.
Ayan Teel, 5’8″, PG, 2019. Ayan started approximately 1/2 of Riverdale Baptist games last year & he is an excellent ball-handler & play-maker, nicknamed “Steady Eddie”, by his Coaches and teammates for his consistent & heady play.
