Recruiting Report: Treavon Martin (2018)
Curie 2018 6’8” power forward Treavon Martin is a long and lanky post that has been on the radar for a couple years. Martin has gotten stronger in his upper body since he broke on the scene as a sophomore at Curie. He is a presence in the lane with his defense and rebounding. Martin does a nice job of protecting the rim on the defensive end swatting shots from guards coming from the weak side and can defend straight up against opposing posts. Solid rebounder that high points them. Offensively is still a bit raw. Finishes well on dump off passes and in transition. Should be on the radar for mid-major and low-major programs.
He spoke with PHI about his season at Curie.
“I feel like it wasn’t what we expected. When you win state like we did the previous year everyone wanted to beat us this year. I think we were ready, but if we would have went a little harder we would have finished better.”
How did he feel he played from an individual standpoint?
“It wasn’t what I wanted exactly. I feel like I could have done a lot better and I have a lot of work to do. I feel like this is the year I have been waiting for. I have taken a backseat since I was a freshman and now my brother (Tyree) and I have the keys to the car and the car is going to go as far as we can push it.”
Martin broke down his game a little.
“I can do a lot and am real versatile. I just have to get my body right. Get stronger and in better condition.”
He is enjoying running with his usual running mates on Team Rose along with a few new guys.
“It is a lot of fun. We have a couple new faces, but we are a family. Everybody knows each other. We are like a family.”
The post chatted about where things stand with his recruitment.
“I got an offer from Denver recently. I talk to Tulsa every day. They are recruiting me real hard. Kent State and Drake are there too.”
What makes Tulsa stand out to him?
“Consistency. They talk to me every day and every week. I talk to them more than I talk to some of my friends.”
