Prospect Spotlight: Rieshaun Satar (2018)
A bright spot for Henry Sibley last year was then-junior Rieshaun Satar‘s 19 PPG to lead the Warriors. Not only is he a prolific scorer, but the 5’10” guard is also a great player to help coach John Carrier build the program’s foundation.
“Rieshaun is not only a guy who can fill up the scoring column on a stat sheet, he’s also an unbelievable worker,” Carrier said. “One of the leaders in our weight room, workouts, etc. He also puts in extra time on his own.
“On top of that he’s very coachable — I know that anytime I get on him it’s a nod and a “yes coach.” I’m very lucky to be able to coach an athlete like Rieshaun.”
Rieshaun is building his resume as a tactical point guard and leader.
“Being around the program for a long time and starting since freshman year playing varsity, I feel that being a leader plays a huge role, especially at the guard spot. You have to be able to control the offense and the team to make plays for your team and teammates. Also to make sure everyone is on the same page and to know what they are doing.
These attributes led to several AAU teams pursuing his talents this spring. He chose Grassroots, the well-known St. Paul program that just entered its first year with Under Armour.
“The AAU season is going pretty well,” Satar said. “We got off to a rough start, but we got it together and started playing more as a team and started winning more games. I like that my team is that we have a pretty undersized team with players that can get up and down the floor.”
Some preliminary college interest has come for Satar, like camp invites. His recruitment is currently wide open.
“For a potential college, I plan to play anywhere at the next level where I can play,” he said. “My intentions are to go to a four-year, but if that didn’t work out for me right away and a juco presents itself, I would consider it and be interested.”
