Recruiting Report: Quinlan Bennett (2018)
Proviso East 2018 6’3” shooting guard Quinlan Bennett has had a strong spring on the NY2LA circuit with Kessel Heat. He is a scoring guard that can get buckets in a variety of ways. Effective isolation scorer that works well in one on one situations. Slick ball handler that is a solid mid-range jump shooter. Really gets to the cup well off the bounce. Finishes at the rim around contact. Extremely smooth with the ball and works well around a ball screen. Low-major D1 target.
Bennett averaged around 13 points per game as a junior.
“It was a slow start, but toward the end of the year we started working together and playing hard. Coach Donnie Boyce really got on us and got our defense turned up. We made a good run. I think I played pretty well throughout the season. I was the main scorer with Tyler (Chisom). We could have done better.”
He enjoys and thrives more during the spring and summer on the circuit with Kessel Heat.
“It goes well every year with these guys. I love my guys and teammates. We play hard. I have a leeway with AAU. Coach Kyle (Kessel) really lets us play and get into the flow of the game.”
What are the strengths in his offensive game?
“Mid-range jumper pulling up and attacking the rim. I also play good in transition.”
Bennett rattled off a list of schools that are showing interest.
“I am hearing from North Dakota State, Green Bay, Loyola, Western Illinois, Omaha, Cal Fullerton.”
He told us that North Dakota State and Green Bay are in the most communication with him. What stands out about NDSU?
“I love the coaching staff. They are very helpful and keep in contact all the time.”
Green Bay is a place that intrigues him as well.
“I like the environment there.”
Bennett will be on the elite camp circuit in June.
“No visits, but I am going to a lot of elite camps. I am going to North Dakota State, SIU, Green Bay, and a couple more.”
