Recruiting Report: Mitchell Weber (2018)
St. Clair power forward Mitchell Weber is such an interesting athlete. He’s a track & field star that can dominate games on the hardwood.
The 6-foot-6 Weber used his strength and growing skill to score twenty a game as a part of regular double-double level numbers. St. Clair had a lot of bodies to replace so there were some tough parts but the team came together for a memorable year.
“It was definitely different knowing that I needed to step up and I needed to be able to score when I could score and do everything I could to get open looks for my teammates to get them better shots,” Weber said.
“It’s definitely memorable every season more than the last, with all the pre game rituals and just being with the guys is amazing.”
Mitchell wants to become a more versatile scorer/player his senior season and that will be his focus when he’s in the gym working to get better.
“I’m planning on working hard on ball handling and also a lot of outside shooting.”
Now that his high school sport season is complete Weber is ready to compete with Minnesota Rise in their several summer events. Weber loves to compete with and against others at this level.
“It’s a great experience playing with a lot of well known guys from the area,” Weber said. “Also the different style of play for myself now being more of a utility player for my teammates for the RISE instead of being one of the main go-tos is a new experience.
“I have no problem with that, anything to help out my teammates in the recruiting process. I’ve learned one thing from playing many years of AAU and that is, people never know how much talent there really is until you go to some of these tournaments, there will always be someone better than you at one thing or the other.”
As far as college? Weber can play college basketball if he wants to. But this is a guy that went to the state tournament (again) for the Shot Put, Discuss, 4X100 Relay, and 4X200 Relay.
Mitch has been to state every year he’s been in high school and of course schools from everywhere in the country want him at the college level. He shared his gigantic list with us today.
“North Dakota, U of Minnesota, North Dakota State, U of Missouri, Stanford, Princeton, U of North Carolina, U of Miami, Augustana, U of Michigan, U of Nebraska, Northern Iowa, U of Iowa, South Dakota Sate, U of Kentucky etc,” Weber said.
“I have went on a couple unofficial visits at Minnesota, North Dakota State, and North Dakota and I plan on visiting NDSU, UND, Michigan, and maybe U of Missouri.”
