Recruiting Report: Mike Hood (2018)
Former Shawnee Mission West standout Mike Hood has announced his decision to reclassify and will attend Link Prep in Branson, Mo.
A point guard that can score at all three levels, Hood is a strong, athletic 6’3 player who has been taking on a big challenge this summer and the Courts Pro Am in Springfield, Mo., competing against a bevy of college players as he gears up for a year in prep school.
He is spending the offseason focused on improving all aspects of his game, from shooting, dribbling, but most of all, he says he has been focused on becoming more athletic.
This spring he competed for SSA Elite, a talented squad that featured several high level players.
“My experience playing with SSA this summer has been good, I haven’t been able to show everything I can do yet because I just started with them but July will be good,” he said.
Hood won’t turn 18 until October after skipping a grade when he was younger and says that reclassifying was something that he had thought about for some time.
“When I visited Link prep and I loved it and knew it was the right one, I hope to get better in all parts of my game and get where I want to be,” he said.
Hood has been hearing from several NCAA Division I and Division II schools, including Nebraska Kearney.
