Recruiting Report: Max Rice (2018)
Max Rice is a 6’4 swingman from who is suiting up with Washington Supreme on the UA Circuit.
Max Rice is a dynamic shooter out of Bishop Kelly High School in Boise City, Idaho. The All-USA Idaho Boys Team standout has been making a name for himself since he walked in as a skinny long freshman. He has a quick release, which in conjunction with his height and length he can virtually shoot over anybody. He is a hardnosed defender who can play multiple positions at a high level. His handle has improved since last year, which will help him at the next level. Getting his shot off was never an issue neither was showing up in big game and taking the big shot. In a district game last year against Middleton High. Max scored 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds, which by most was his best high school games.
In an interview, I got the chance to talk with Max and got his opinion on his game along with how it has developed over the years.
“I am a real easy going person and love to enjoy life. My schooling is most important, so the school I choose to go to has to have a good academic program. It is hard to compare my game to someone else because I strive to make my own way. Most of my coaches would say that I am a knock down shooter and can play tough perimeter defense, I know at the next level I will play some point guard so this off-season I have been working on my handle. I know that making moves off the dribble will be an important piece to my game going into college.”
What is recruitment looking like for you?
“Going into my last season of AAU ball, I hope to gain some serious interest and offers before walking into school. I have enjoyed the process and the years of playing. I must now get mentally ready for the next level. This summer my workouts will be more intense, my eating habits have changed and I am focusing on areas of my game I need to improve on. Right now, I have some D1 offers, but I am trying to find the best fit. ”
Max has been suiting up with Washington Supreme, which is one of the top programs in the nation. Max described his experience as…
“Playing for Washington Supreme program has been a great experience. My game has been to come in and provide a spark, provide instant scoring and perimeter defense. I feel like my game is starting to take shape. The coaching staff really breaks down what it is to be a student athlete and what the next level will look for us. With what I’ve learned playing for Washington Supreme has helped me get geared up for the adversity I will face.”
Max has the poise, skill and maturity to play at a Mid Major D1 level and schools should start to take notice this summer.
Here is recent interview done on his family along with how basketball has influenced their life.
