Recruiting Report: Lorenzo Smith (2018)
Fresh off a Class AA state title season where he contributed 13.9 PPG for Minnehaha Academy, Lorenzo Smith is looking to make a splash in AAU. He is playing with Grassroots Sizzle’s second team and working to get better every week.
“AAU has been going pretty good,” Smith told NHR. “We won some games and lost some tough games. I’ve been mostly trying to lead my team to get more wins. I like that everyone has a good relationship with one another. I also like that we play aggressive in transition, which leads to forced turnovers and easy buckets.”
Smith feels like most of his improvement has come with his mid-range jumper and attacking the rim. And when you think about how the rest of the Minnehaha lineup will be improving along with Smith, it’s scary to imagine the next year (or three).
“The vibe at Minnehaha is awesome going into next year,” he said. “Everyone has a good relationship with one another. Mostly our whole team is coming back for next season, and we all know how to play with each other. We are mainly looking forward for a two-peat at state.”
Smith has a few Division III colleges on him right now, but he is hoping for D2 or D1 opportunities.
“I am looking for what types of major and degrees are available that I want to pursue in, the classroom size, the basketball program, and the location in a college.”
