Recruiting Report: Kade Amundson (2018)
Six-foot-6 forward Kade Amundson helped Century to the state title game and a 22-5 season as a junior. Now he’s entered his final 12 months of high school hoops.
At eight points, six rebounds, and 1.5 blocks a game playing on a deep Patriot frontcourt Amundson was a key piece to the Century season. He made 52 percent of the six shots he took each game and a third of his threes.
“This was my first year starting for Century and it really allowed my confidence to grow as a player,” Kade said. “I started taking more shots and being more aggressive.”
And the best part of Kade’s junior year?
“I will always remember playing along side my best friends on our way to the state championship!”
Amundson is one of many Century players returning from last year’s rotation. Guard Tyler Hauglie returns as does Treyton Mattern and Kade Lynch, also guards, and of course Josh Sipes. Amundson is the lone big coming back and has a big summer of work ahead.
“A lot of my work will come in the weight room,” Kade said. “But on the court I am working on my perimeter game with dribble pull ups and ball handling. Defensively I an working on being able to guard guards as well as bigs.”
ECI is 15-9 on the season after five weekends of play including a championship in the ECI Spring Preview event they hosted.
“This level allows me to play against very skilled athletes across the Midwest,” Kade said.
“I get to see a whole new level of talent that I don’t get to play against in North Dakota. It challenges me to bring my A-game every game, even when there might be three or four games in one day.”
College programs continue to call Kade about a college basketball future.
“I do plan on playing basketball at the collegiate level,” Kade said. “I’m hearing from U of Mary, Jamestown, Minot State, Valley City State, Sioux Falls, and Minnesota State-Moorhead.”
