Recruiting Report: Jordan Belka (2018)
Jordan Belka of Rogers was one of the top stock raisers of the spring which should result in several future college options.
“I feel like I grew as a player in a lot of ways this winter,” Belka said. “I feel like I improved and grew in all facets of the game. My passing, rebounding and shooting all improved and I developed a better awareness for the speed and physicality of the varsity game. I also feel like I grew as a leader from just watching the seniors on our team.”
The 6-foot-6 Belka averaged 17 points per game and led his team to a 24-5 season.
“This past year we were a very successful team, that fell just short of the state tourney,” Jordan told Prep Hoops. “The bonds with my teammates and the chemistry we shared is something that I will always remember.
“Experience wise, I feel like I got that “big game” experience from playing Maple Grove in the section championship.”
Belka is a versatile, high IQ player that is also very skilled. Jordan understands work and he knows what he needs to do this summer to get better.
“I am really working hard to improve my overall strength and athleticism,” Jordan said. “I am also working to become a better ball handler and a more complete scorer and player.”
Belka is competing with the talented Comets Servaty team that is competing in the NY2LA Basketball League. They’ve had some great wins and some losses they want back but overall it’s been a great experience for Belka.
“Playing for the Comets and the level of competition has been great for my overall game. I’ve had the ability to play positions from the 2 through the 5 which has helped me improve in all areas.
“Our AAU schedule has been great with excellent competition. It has helped me be more consistent. We have a very balanced team with many good players. My role changes from game to game which in the long run is going to hopefully help me become a more complete player.”
Belka recently earned his first Northern Sun offer and he is hearing from a load of D3 schools.
“I am hearing from some NSIC schools and I have recently gotten an offer from Minot State,” Jordan said.
