Recruiting Report: Jack Schoemann (2018)
Few players have seen their stock rise this offseason quite like Shawnee Mission East 2018 Jack Schoemann.
A long, rangy 6’7 wing player, Schoemann is a long, rangy player whose length allows him to score in a variety of ways. He can handle the ball, shoot from the outside and get on the boards.
The Shawnee Mission East product has seen his stock blow up after a strong spring playing with MoKan Select, and currently holds NCAA Division I offers from Colorado State and UTEP and has heard from a host of other Division I programs, including St. John’s, Illinois, Duquesne, Princeton, along with some Division II schools.
This offseason, Schoemann has been working on various elements of his game to take things to another level as a senior.
“I’ve really been working on getting more explosive and my finishing around the rim,” Schoemann said. “I also have been focusing on my mid range and my free throws.”
Schoemann says playing with MoKan Select has been a good experience this offseason as he has built a resume with college coaches.
“They’ve treated me like I’ve been a part of the program forever even though it is my first year with them,” Schoemann said. “Also, my coaches have taught me to focus more on the defensive end to complement my offensive game.”
Shawnee Mission East returns a lot from a young team that finished a game above .500 a year ago and expectations are high for the Lancers as Schoemann has emerged as a D1 talent.
“June has been great with my high school team,” Schoemann said. “I’ve embraced the role as a team leader and carrying more of the work load, but that’s been really good for me. I also have become even closer with my teammates and my coach.”
