Recruiting Report: Garrett Luinstra (2018)
LAWRENCE, Kan. — Just a few months before his senior season is set to being Free State 2018 point guard Garrett Luinstra has yet to draw his first college offer.
But that may be set to change soon.
At 6’1, Luinstra can do a variety of things at a high level. He is a solid outside shooter, can handle the ball, create his own offense off the bounce and plays with pace, keeping defenders off balance.
Luinstra says he takes pride in his leadership and ability to handle the point guard duties.
“My game consists of being in control of the game at the point guard position,” he said. “I can shoot it and distribute it to my teammates.”
Luinstra has been working this offseason on improving his strength as well as improving all aspects of his game while competing for MoKan Select.
“This spring has gone very well for me with playing on Mokan Select,” he said. “I’ve been focusing on just building myself as a player and trying to get my name out.”
This June, Luinstra has led a new-look Free State team that features a host of new players after the graduation of a large and talented senior class.
“June has gone pretty well for us we are still figuring out how to fit in our transfers and get them in the mix of our program,” Luinstra said.
Although he currently does not hold any offers, Luinstra has drawn interest from several NAIA and D2 schools this offseason.
