Recruiting Report: Deundra Roberson (2018)
Deundra Roberson led Columbia Heights to a final four spot in the state tournament this year scoring 17.7 points per game. He’s also led 43 Hoops to a good season.
“I have grown as a player in many ways but the best was my attitude,” Roberson told Prep Hoops. “It got way better.
“One time I came in the gym and my Coach Willie Braziel said “what you mad for? You are young and playing basketball?” That made me think and ever since I don’t really have attitude.”
The Hylanders won 23 games this winter in Coach Braziel’s return to the program and along with Deundra they led Columbia Heights to a special year.
“I will always remember the seniors I played with. They were the heart of my team and the reason we went to state.”
Roberson has impressed many with his explosive game. He’s grown physically so he has the ability to play both the one and the two spots making Deundra one of the state’s best combo guards. There are also areas he wants to improve on next season.
“Shooting and dribbling and creating for my teammates are the things I want to get better at for my senior year,” Roberson said.
This spring playing with 43 Hoops Roberson has helped the team to a 19-7 record thus far. They’ve beaten D1 Minnesota at their spring event and 43 Hoops has been a runner-up at both the Ny2La Spring Extravaganza and the NHR State Tournament.
“43 has gotten me a lot more competitive,” Roberson said. “AAU has me compete with some good guards to see what they can do feel them out and adjust to the game plan.”
Deundra is hearing from an assortment of both college football and college basketball programs.
“I’m hearing from Bethel, Augsburg, St. John’s, and Valley City State for football, basketball I’ve heard from some division two and division three schools.”
Deundra plays wide receiver, defensive back, punt returner, and kick returner for his football team.
