Recruiting Report: Anthony Lynch (2018)
Class of 2018 wing Anthony Lynch is a tough scoring two guard from Larkin. The 6’3” wing is best attacking his opponent downhill. He goes right at them with straight line drives and has a knack for making tough layups at the rim. Most of his scores come on attacks to the basket. Also gets after it on the defensive end of the floor. He is a low-major D1/high level D2 prospect.
Lynch spoke about his junior season after transferring to Larkin from South Elgin.
“I think it went pretty well and I grew as a player. Coach Carter was on me every day in practice and it translated to the game. He is a former college player so he knows what it takes. He tries to get us not only ready for this level, but the next level.”
Where did his game grow the most?
“I think my confidence. Playing a lot more opened me up to a lot more things. Coach Carter trusted me with the ball and gave me a lot more confidence in my game on defense and dribbling past my man. I am developing as more of a leader on the court and off the court. You have to be able to talk and communicate with your players. I think I am growing mentality.”
He chatted with us about the biggest assets he can bring to a team at the next level.
“My strengths are getting to the basket, transition, and if my defender comes up and stops me I have to make smart decisions and look for the open shooters.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I have an offer from D2 Northwood as well as American University.”
He broke down both schools.
“I like Northwood because it is a business school and I might major in that. I like American because it is a Patriot League school so if you come out of there you are definitely set to get a good job. It is not just basketball. It is academics first.”
Other schools showing interest include Princeton, Cornell, Furman, Lafayette, UNC Wilmington, Elon, and Parkside. He also recently picked up an offer from D2 Lewis.
Lynch plays with Kessel Heat on the grassroots circuit.
