Prospect Spotlight: Tyler Kittelson (2018)
The first thing that stands out when watching Comets-Servaty play is their size. Tyler Kittelson may not be the tallest front court player on the team, but he’s arguably the most athletic and the most active.
Kittelson, a 6-foot-4 forward from Totino-Grace is one of the many talented big men for Comets-Servaty and his ability to combine strength and athleticism with activity makes him a game-long headache for the opposition.
Kittleson is new to the Comets this season and while there is an inevitable adjustment period that all AAU teams go through, his has been mostly seamless.
“Season has been going great,” Kittelson said. “It’s been a lot of fun. New team for me but everybody is very well coached and we’re having a blast. We have pretty good chemistry so we’ve gotten better at playing off each other.”
A big part of that chemistry is understanding how to play in a sometimes packed paint. Kittelson is oftentimes the third tallest guy on the floor and while most of the bigs on the team have the ability to step out, handle the ball and play on the perimeter, it’s only natural that guys find their way to the blocks frequently.
“Everybody being tall is actually not as big of an adjustment for me,” said Kittelson. “We had a tall team at Totino this past year but the nice part about this team is that everybody plays well together. We like to run and guys like to pass and guys are unselfish.”
Kittelson’s drawn recruiting interest from a lot of the MIAC and UMAC schools.
With a few more AAU tournaments left and a few high school tournaments this summer, Kittelson said a main focus for him will be to improve as a scorer.
