Prospect Spotlight: Trevion Brown (2017)
Trevion “Tre” Brown 6’2 is ready to have a breakout summer and pick up more college offers.
Originally a Lincoln High School, Tacoma, WA Graduate, Trevion and his family decided it was best to attend prep school at Gateway Legacy Christian out of Chicago, Illinois this past season. Always looked at as a bold move for young high school athletes to reclassify, This was a good move for Trevion to go against better competition, continue to grow physical, mentally and gain even more playing experience being one of the main leaders on the team.
“At Gateway Legacy I was able to really get to know different players from different countries and from other part of the US who speak different languages. I came there with the mindset to network and become an impactful player during my time there.”
Trevion is still somewhat of a secret, but has the size and skill set to play at a high major Division 1 level. He has a very HIGH IQ, A smooth jump shot that he is very confident in, a very skilled ball handler which he has been mastering at an early age, allowing him to create more off the dribble and make plays. He is a good on ball defender, but really excels off the ball where he has a good eye on anticipating where the pass will go.
“I feel that my IQ is extremely high and my ability to distribute the ball is one of my strengths along with my ability to get to the basket and create for myself as well.”
You can find Trevion deep in the heart of Tacoma at what most Tacoma natives know as Old Gray Gym (Edison Elementary) training with Mr. David Brown one of our hometown legends and youth mentors. This season he looks forward to spending as much time in the gym as he can to help him prepare for a very heavy schedule coming up in July.
“This off season I’m working on becoming the best version of myself. I want to improve on every aspect of my game along with every aspect of my physical stature. Continuing to nourish my body and stay on a tight regiment while in the gym and outside of the gym are important.”
Recruiting is really picking up for this young man after playing for Gateway Christian. He currently has been in contact with schools such as Wofford, Western Kentucky, UNC Charlotte and LSU just to name a few.
“This summer I’m playing with Seattle Swish. It’s been going really well so far, playing tough high level competition in different states. We have a tough schedule coming up where we will be traveling to California and Vegas. We will be competing in the Pangos Spectacular and the Las Vegas FAB 48. My goal is to continue to impress the coaches and pick up more offers.”
I was able to view some of Trevion’s training session and believe he is a high major player and should definitely blow his recruitment wide open this summer. With a 3.0 GPA and scoring a 15 on his ACT and a 880 on the SAT. He is primed and ready for the next level.
