Prospect Spotlight: Luke Waters (2018)
After helping Olathe Northwest advance to the Kansas 6A state championships in Wichita this past season, 2018 forward Luke Waters is putting together a solid spring competing for the KC Spurs.
A tough inside-outside player, Waters has good size at 6’6 and is a natural scorer with the ability to put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways. He can shoot the 3 and put it on the floor and get to the rim, but can also play with his back to the basket and take advantage of smaller matchups.
This offseason, Waters is focused on improving his ball handling and shooting off the dribble, as well improving his agility at the defensive end.
He has put together a solid spring witht the Spurs, competing against good competition and playing alongside several of his high school teammates as well as players from the surrounding KC area.
This June, Waters and Northwest has competed at the KAMO Shootout as well as the Kansas State team camp and has seen some encouraging signs.
“We played a lot of games and got better as a team, we finished in the top four in both tournaments,” Waters said.
Waters is currently talking with Washburn, an NCAA Division II school located in Topeka, but currently does not hold any offers.
“I’m just continuing to work hard,” he said.
