Prospect Spotlight: Christian Zamora (2019)
Washington’s 46th-ranked 2019, 6-foot-4 shooting guard Christian Zamora is coming off the heels of a strong sophomore season, and ready to breakout as one of Washington’s best overall prospects.
With good size and an ability to score in a variety of ways, Zamora is well on his way.
“I’d say my strengths are that I can shoot the ball, and find my shot pretty well. And knowing that I can shoot, I’m able to drive to the hole and get my shots there at the rim,” said Zamora.
“And I’m working on my defense, especially for high school ball. I’m hoping to better that part of my game so I can excel on that side of the ball.”
Zamora has been starting since his freshman season with Lynden, and averaged 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game as a sophomore.
“My coach looks at me as a leader, and really has my best interest in mind,” said Zamora. “And he really wants me to do good in school and basketball as well.”
This spring and summer, Zamora is playing up a grade level with Washington Elite 17U.
“I play up, and for the most part it’s been pretty good; a lot of exposure to (college) coaches, and just a good overall experience for me,” said Zamora.
“My personal goals are to just get better on defense and just get stronger. And to make sure I’m at my top point for next season.”
With his size and skill-set, now is the time that Zamora’s recruitment could start to spike. He says he’s ready for that.
“My coach has said he’s talked to Idaho and Seattle Pacific about me, nothing too serious, but just initial stuff,” said Zamora.
“My AAU and high school coaches do a great job of talking to different college coaches about me. And I’ve had some interest, but nothing too serious. But I definitely want to get going with some offers, I feel like I’m ready for that.”
