Pool B
Shawnee Mission West, Basehor Linwood, Olathe South, Manhattan, Ozark (Mo.), Lawrence Free State
Players to Watch in Pool B
Nate Awbrey, 6’1, G, 2018, Manhattan
An underrated guard who plays tough at both ends of the floor. Awbrey is a standout perimeter shooter that has the ability to carry a team at the offensive end of the court.
Noah Butler, 6’5, F, 2019 Lawrence Free State
Word is Butler is now at Free State after previously playing at Lawrence. He was one of several talented young players who had to wait their turn last season at Lawrence behind a deep senior class. He is a strong, physical athlete who at 6’5 can play on the perimeter, as well as attack the bucket. He is among the state’s premier talents in the rising junior class.
Miles Emery, 6’5, PF, 2018, Blue Valley North
Easily one of the toughest big man matches there is around the state, Emery is a strong, physical player that can play above the rim, post up and get big in the paint, or face up and beat his man to the bucket. At 6’5, 235-pounds, Emery is a standout football player and among the state’s top prospects. He recently committed to the Kansas Jayhawks.
Garrett Luinstra, 6’2, PG, 2018, Lawrence Free State
A smooth point guard that can handle the ball, create off the bounce and is a terrific outside shooter from 3-point range. He is a crafty player with the dribble and sets up defenders with a host of hesitation moves and the ability to change pace.
Quinn Nelson, 6’3, SG, 2018, Ozark (Mo.)
One of Missouri’s premier shooters, Nelson has a smooth, repeatable stroke from distance and has worked hard at becoming a well-rounded player. He has good size with a long, rangy build and was one of the better players a year ago as a junior in the Springfield area.
Jalen Robinson, 6’4, C, 2018, Lawrence Free State
At 6’4, 288-pounds, Robinson brings a strong physical presence to the post for Free State. He has soft hands and the ability to convert around the basket and uses his frame well to carve out space.
Ben Schneider, 6’9, C, 2018, Basehor Linwood
Big man with some long term potential. Schneider is still raw but is a fluid athlete who runs the floor well and at a long 6’9, provides size around the basket and is a big presence.
