Nike Elite 100: 2019 Post Scouting
PrepHoops was in attendance this past week at the prestigious Nike Elite 100 Camp. We have extensive scouting reports on all of the prospects at the event. Next up is an in-depth look at the 2019 post players which was a strong group!
C John Ajak (Church Farm HS, PA)
Came away extremely impressed with Ajak. Didn’t know a lot about this 6’9” big man coming into the camp, but he stands out physically and what he brings to the table as a player. Outstanding size and strength. Long and toned arms. Runs the floor well with long strides. He plays with strength and rebounds very well. Most of his scores in the paint are dunks. Was very impressed with his ability to stretch the floor consistently hitting mid-range jumpers with a soft shooting touch. This kid is going to blow up!
PF Andrew Timme (JJ Pearce HS, TX)
Huge fan of Timme! He stands at 6’8” and is a solid athlete with good strength. Extremely active four man that has a nose for the basketball. Rebounds well and finishes tremendously well around the hoop. Shoots a high percentage on his shots in the paint. Effective right handed jump hook, can attack from mid-range putting it on the deck a couple dribbles, and is a big time pick/pop shooter. Runs the floor well with his mobility.
C Nobal Days (Washington Park HS, WI)
Days was good, but not great at Elite 100. We love the upside in this 6’8” post. He is very skilled and his best asset is his passing. Really dishes it well out of the post. Had trouble finishing around the hoop. Can stretch the floor on occasion with his jumper. Need to see a more dominant player out of him every possession.
C Babatunde Akingbola (McEachern HS, GA)
Akingbola is a physical 6’7” 222 pound big man that is extremely strong and physical. Jacked in his arms and is a mobile player for his size.
C Isaiah Stewart (McQuaid HS, NY)
Stewart is a broad shouldered and physical beast inside at 6’7” 233 pounds. He is an excellent rebounder that is effective on both ends. Gets a lot of his points dominating the offensive glass for put backs. Powerful finishing on the interior on put backs and dump offs. Not overly skilled at this stage. Does seal off his man and can roll as a finisher in the pick and roll. Defensive enforcer and shot blocking presence. Plays hard!
C Roman Wilson (Park Hill HS, MO)
The Park Hill, Missouri post has size at 6’9” that makes him extremely intriguing. Active rebounder that grabs them at their highest point. Rebounds in and out of his area. Has more bounce that I had seen out of him previously on several dunks on the interior. Jump shot needs some work. Solid passer out of the post.
PF Keion Brooks (Northside HS, IN)
Brooks is a future lottery level talent in the NBA. He was good, not great in St. Louis. He stands at 6’6” with elite athleticism. So quick and precise with everything that he does. Big time and explosive athlete that runs the floor and finishes excellent in transition. Length plays well on the defensive end getting deflections, defending on the perimeter, and swatting shots. Seals well in the high/low.
PF Anderson Mirambeaux (Teays Valley Christian HS, WV)
Mirambeaux looks like a beast football player on the basketball court. He is an undersized four man at 6’5” with a thick body. Moves well for his size and can shoot it a little. Solid mobility.
C DeAndre Wilkins (Wesleyan Christian Academy, NC)
Wilkins is a big bodied post at 6’8” 250 pounds. Physical body, but really struggled finishing around the basket throughout the week despite his superior strength.
C Jaden Bediako (St. Marcellinus, CAN)
Bediako is a wide shouldered post at 6’8” 248 pounds. He is a big time shot blocking presence on the defensive end of the floor. Solid mobility offensively with limited skill. Still learning the game. Bad hands in traffic. Finishes strong around the hoop with power.
PF Moulaye Sissoko (Central Park Christian HS, AL)
Sissoko stands at 6’6” with a strong body. He has an elite second jump which allows him to get on the offensive glass at an extremely high rate. Snatches them at their highest point and finishes well putting them back in for two points. Quality athlete for how bulky he is.
C Mahamadou Diawara (Hamilton Heights, TN)
Diawara is a physical best! Powerful player that had a couple spectacular up and under finishes. Worked well in the screen and roll. Also showed some skill potential with an attack out of the mid-post and a few quick spins on the block.
C Kofi Cockburn (Christ the King, NY)
Cockburn is a big center at 6’10” and 289 pounds. Big bodied post is an outstanding area rebounder. High level board getter that uses his physicality around the hoop to box out and gobble up rebounds. Positions his body well on the interior and finishes well through contact offensively. Also is a shot blocking presence on the defensive end. Tough post that plays with a swagger.
PF Zeke Nnaji (Hopkins HS, MN)
Nnaji is a 6’7” face up four man that is long and athletic. Runs the floor well and is a shot blocking presence with his quick explosion off the floor on the defensive end. Slender build and will need to add strength going forward. Quick to the glass.
C Aidan Igiehon (Lawrence Woodmere Academy, NY)
Igiehon was one of the premier post players in the camp. At 6’8” 220 pounds has a great combination of strength, power, and athleticism. Finishes well around the hoop with strength. Very aggressive rebounder that was one of the top rebounders at the camp. Despite how bulky he is he has the ability to sky above defenders for rebounds with ease. Very bouncy which played well on the defensive end where he proved he is one of the premier rim protectors in the class. Offensively he was almost too physical at times. Not overly skilled he uses power to score on the block which led to a few charges and turnovers. Elite motor and toughness out of this player!
PF Tyreek Smith (Trinity Christian School, TX)
Smith shined late in the camp on Saturday and Sunday. The 6’8” slender four man is very bouncy. Long and lanky post gets on the glass and is elite rim protector with his shot blocking ability. Gets on the offensive boards for put back opportunities. Runs the floor and can even handle it some going length to length for a finish after grabbing a defensive rebound. Like the upside with his kid!
C Blaise Keita (Sunrise Christian Academy, KS)
Keita is a big center out of Sunrise Christian that is 6’10” 232 pounds. Powerful center with a great body for a post. Mixes in a mid-range jumper on occasion. Wasn’t overly dominant, but physical tools are impressive.
PF Malcolm Dandridge (East Memphis, TN)
Dandridge is a 6’6” 247 pound post out of Memphis that is a powerful finisher around the hoop. Seals well in the high/low. Rim runner that is great running the floor in transition.
PF DJ Burns (York Prep, SC)
Burns is a thick bodied lefty that at 6’7” 273 pounds really competes and plays hard. He will need to drop some weight, but actually moves fairly well at his current weight. The lefty is a plus passer out of the post finding shooters on the opposite side of the floor. Tough post defender. Broke a rim on one dunk.
PF Richard Springs (Bishop Laughlin HS, NY)
Springs definitely has “springs”. He is a bouncy four man that high points rebounds and is active on the offensive glass.
C Carl Lewis (Lynwood HS, CA)
As a player there is a lot to like with Lewis. He is 6’8” 258 pounds with good athleticism for his size. Broad shouldered post is an elite level rebounder especially on the defensive end and can block shots from the weak side. Horrible attitude and teammate on the floor yelling at his teammates on a consistent basis.
PF Taylor Currie (Clarkston HS, MI)
Currie recently committed to Michigan. The 6’7” four man has length and mobility that he brings to the table. Crafty handling it facing up from the perimeter. Runs the floor well. Love what he brings as a pick and roll/pop player that can screen, finish on rolls, and hit jump shots. Will fit in the Wolverines system perfectly!
