Kansas Team Camp Recap: (Wings)
WINGS
The Kansas University Team Camp was held over the weekend in Lawrence and featured more than 20 teams from across Kansas competing in the field. While we weren’t able to see everyone, here is a run down of some of the top players throughout the weekend.
Eric Batson, 6’6, F, 2018, Blue Valley North (Kan.)
Probably didn’t have his best game in the contest we watched against Free State, but Batson remains one of the more improved players we have seen this summer in Kansas. BVN is playing its summer slate without several key performers as Miles Emery and others sit out, but Batson figures to have a huge role next year after mostly coming off the bench in a reserve role last year. He is a big, rangy athletic wing player who can handle the ball and do a lot of different things.
Noah Butler, 6’5, F, 2019, Free State (Kan.)
Butler seems to be fitting in with his new home across town well and he showed off an improved 3-point stroke over the weekend from what we saw. Physically built and athletic, Butler is still a tough match-up in the high post where he attacks the bucket off the bounce, but when he’s shooting the ball well from the outside he makes life even more difficult for opponents.
Jack Schoemann, 6’6, F/G, 2018, Shawnee Mission East (Kan.)
One of the more overlooked players in Kansas, Schoemann is a skilled wing player with terrific length, allowing him to play bigger than his listed height. He has a smooth perimeter game, able to handle the ball and has a nice left handed shooting stroke. Schoemann currently holds a pair of Division I offers from Colorado State and xxwith more potentially on the way this summer.
