Kansas Team Camp Recap: (Point Guards)
POINT GUARDS
The Kansas University Team Camp was held over the weekend in Lawrence and featured more than 20 teams from across Kansas competing in the field. While we weren’t able to see everyone, here is a run down of some of the top players throughout the weekend.
Kelyn Bolton, 6’1, PG, 2018, Shawnee Mission East (Kan.)
One of the better guards you don’t hear much about in the KC area, Bolton is a terrific athlete, is explosive in the open court and can handle the ball and get all the way to the bucket.
Garrett Luinstra, 6’1, PG, 2018, Free State (Kan.)
It seems like we have written a lot about Luinstra in recent weeks, but it is well earned, he is emerging as one of the better all-around point guards in the state. Armed with a deadly 3-pointer, Luinstra is also a terrific ball handler, capable of starting and stopping quickly and changing directions off the bounce with ease. He’s playing his way into a scholarship at the next level although he remains to be seen what level still.
Trey Quartlebaum, 6’1, PG, 2019, Lawrence (Kan.)
Already counted on for a big boost in production this season, but with an injury to Clearance King, his importance takes on even more meaning. He is a terrific athlete, is capable of handling the ball and running the point and is explosive in the open court. Look for Quartlebaum to have a breakout season as a junior.
