July Eyes: Prospects (point guards)
July Eyes: Prospects (point guards)
Several players across the state area coming off a solid spring showing and a big performance during evaluation period in July could lead to a players first offer, or even more offers on the table.
Mason Alexander, 6’0, 2018, McPherson
Travel Team: Kansas Pray N Play
Really like Alexander’s game, he can handle it, shoot it from range and finds a way to win. He’s a left hander and has the ability to create space off the bounce and keep defenders off balance. He is a college level player and should start to draw more interest with a strong July.
Jett Canfield, 6’0, 2018, Hayden
Travel Team: KC Run GMC
A terrific leader at the point, Canfield put together a strong spring with KC Run GMC on the Under Armour Association. He has put together a terrific high school career already and looked strong throughout the June team sessions that we saw at the KA-MO Shootout in Kansas City.
Garrett Luinstra, 6’1, 2018, Free State
Travel Team: MoKan Select
Luinstra is among our big risers over the past year. After a standout campaign on the hardwood for Free State as a junior, he has seen his stock continue to rise with a solid spring competing for MoKan Select and carried that play over to the June high school sessions where he continues to perform. He is a solid ballhandler who can shoot the 3 and has a knack for creating plays off the bounce.
Trey Quartlebaum, 6’1, 2019, Lawrence
Travel Team: KC Run GMC
Quartlebaum figures to be among the state’s top risers in the 2019 class this season with a year of added physical maturity he appears poised to take his game to new heights. He will also have plenty of opportunity at Lawrence with graduation, injury and the loss of several key players. He is a sneaky good athlete and explosive in the open court and will be tough for opponents to keep out of the paint this season.
Dylan Vincent, 6’2, G, 2018, Goddard
Travel Team: Kansas Select
An athletic guard who has the ability to get into the lane and create off the dribble, Vincent teamed in the spring with Ben Pyle to form a tough 1-2 punch on Kansas Select. Vincent is a tough as nails competior who doesn’t back down from a challenge and should be a player on college program’s radars.
