July Eyes: prospects (Forwards)
July Eyes: Prospects (Forwards)
Several players across the state area coming off a solid spring showing and a big performance during evaluation period in July could lead to a players first offer, or even more offers on the table.
Noah Butler, 6’5, 2019, Free State
Travel Team: KC Run GMC
Butler has made the move across town to Free State and shot the ball well from what we saw throughout June. He has a big, strong frame with the ability attack out of the high post and is a versatile defender. He put together a solid spring with KC Run GMC and if he takes his game to another level in July he could start to draw even more attention from college coaches.
DeShawn Hanika, 6’4, 2018, Topeka Hayden
Travel Team: SSA Elite
Word is Hanika is emerging as a top flight football recruit as he is a strong, powerfully built athlete. On the basketball court however, Hanika has emerged as a potential wing player at the next level after mostly playing in the paint for Hayden. He can handle the ball and knock down 3-pointers, but because of his size and athleticism he is a tough match-up in the paint for most high school teams.
Joe Pleasant, 6’6, 2018, Blue Valley Northwest
Travel Team: KC Run GMC
How about this for a stat line — Pleasant, a 6’6 skilled forward from Blue Valley Northwest, shot 91 percent from the free throw line for KC Run GMC throughout the spring UAA circuit. He was the team’s second leading scorer, leading rebounder and leading shot blocker. Known for his inside-outside game, Pleasant can handle the ball a little and play a face-up game, and can take his game into the block and score around the bucket. He picked up an offer from xx along the way this spring, but with continued strong play more will likely be on the way.
Jeremiah Robinson, 6’8, 2019, Bishop Miege
Travel Team: KC Run GMC
One of the state’s most highly sought after players continues to add offers to his list, including the University of Missouri and others. He has put together a strong spring with KC Run GMC, leading the 16U squad in scoring and rebounding. Known as a highly skilled forward, Robinson-Earl can score in the post, shows terrific footwork and is a versatile defender capable of covering players at several different positions.
