July Eyes: 2019 Prospects (bigs)
July Eyes: 2019 Prospects (bigs)
Several players across the state area coming off a solid spring showing and a big performance during evaluation period in July could lead to a players first offer, or even more offers on the table.
Josh Early, 6’7, 2019, Bishop Miege
Travel Team: KC Run GMC
Big things await Bishop Miege forward Josh Early who is a dominant physical presence with a strong, physical frame and athleticism to match. He is a match-up nightmare for opponents as he is strong enough to muscle up against pretty much anyone, yet quick and athletic enough to step away from the basket and play in the high post, facing the bucket as well. He has spent his high school career to date playing behind talented front court players, but his time is coming after the graduation of Francesco Badocchi, who recently signed to play at Virginia.
Blaze Keita, 6’11, 2019, Sunrise Christian
Travel Team: MoKan Elite
One of the state’s top risers this spring, Keita has terrific upside with an athletic build and terrific size that translates well to the next level. Keita is a force to reckon with around the bucket at both ends of the floor as he is capable of playing above the rim, defending the basket and finishing plays.
Zane Meeks, 6’8, 2019, Shawnee Mission East
Travel Team: Team Rush
Meeks impressed in Lawrence at last weekend’s Kansas Jayhawk Team Camp where he showed off a diverse skill set as well as the size to bang inside. He is comfortable in the block, is a good screener and passer and can also step out and shoot perimeter jumpers. Look for his stock to rise over the course of the next year and enter his junior season as one of the better rising post players in the Kansas City area.
Siler Techirhart, 6’8, 2019, Blue Valley
Travel Team: KC Spurs
There aren’t many players in high school ball these days with an old-school approach to post play, but this kid fits that bill. He likes to post up, get big and physical in the paint and score the old fashioned way. He is big and long, but has a strong base and a strong build. He can struggle at times to score over more athletic rim protectors, but most teams struggle to contain him in the paint.
