Intro: Bryce Bultman (2019)
Nashville 6’4” 2019 point guard Bryce Bultman projects as one of the better guard prospects in southern Illinois the next two seasons. First aspect that stands out is size for position. He is a legit 6’4” and a true point guard. He has an outstanding feel for the game. Plus vision in the half court making sound decisions with the ball in his hands. Just an advanced basketball IQ. Ability to hit a three off the catch and is active on the defensive end of the floor. Bultman will be the motor that makes Nashville go the next two years on a young and talented small school squad! Bultman really impressed and projects as a D2 player at this stage.
Bultman chatted with PHI about his spring with the Illinois Bears 16U.
“It is pretty good. Usually try to get tournaments every weekend. I think I am doing good this spring. I am trying to distribute my passes more and get my teammates open more. Get layups and knock down some threes.”
What does he try to do on the floor to take advantage of defenses with his size and skill?
“If I have a littler guy on me I will post them up. If the other team puts a slower guy on me I will go by them. Usually that opens up my teammates and I kick the ball to them.”
A young core of prospects helped lead Nashville to a solid season this past year.
“It was pretty good. We made it to the sectional championship game against Alton Marquette. We were winning and then they started hitting their shots and we couldn’t really recover from that.”
How was it for him individually?
“It was nice. I played a lot and started. Didn’t come out that much. I averaged about 9 points per game as a sophomore. It was a good season.”
No college interest at this time, but D2 programs and low-majors should start monitoring.
