Friday KA-MO Shootout (Pool D) Standouts
Friday KA-MO Shootout (Pool D)
PrepHoops.com/Kansas was on hand Friday night for some of the action at Shawnee Mission Northwest.
Ochai Agbaji, 6’3, G, 2018, Oak Park (Mo.)
Agbaji might have been something of an unknown in basketball circles this time a year ago, but no more. He is an athletic guard with terrific size and an athletic build. He can play above the rim as he showed on Friday against an overmatched Belton squad and has the ability to shoot and handle the ball. He plays under control and with terrific poise and has strong leadership qualities.
Damien Daniels, 5’9, PG, 2018, Hogan Prep (Mo.)
There aren’t many better on-the-ball defenders in the Kansas City area than Daniels. He is all over the place defensively and really creates havoc with the way he plays the game. At the offensive end, Daniels is a capable leader at the point and is able to get to the bucket at will.
CC Ghilardi, 6’1, G, 2018, Shawnee Mission Northwest (Kan.)
Ghilardi has a nice mid-range game off the bounce. He is a good outside shooter and plays with poise.
Cooper Kaifes, 6’3, G, 2018, Mill Valley (Kan.)
He remains one of the better all-around guards in the rising 2018 class in Kansas. He is a strong, physical guard with a smooth repeatable 3-point stroke. Kaifes currently holds three Division I offers and has heard from a host of other programs.
Teven McKelvey, 6’0, G, 2020, Gardner-Edgerton (Kan.)
A tough, left handed point guard, McKelvey is at his best attacking the bucket where he is a terrific finisher in traffic.
Jhaidyn Richardson, 6’4, G/F, Oak Park (Mo.)
A versatile, inside-outside player, Richardson impressed on Friday with his all-around play. He can handle the ball, shoot from the outside and does a good job attacking the bucket. He is big enough to defend around the paint, but athletic enough to guard on the perimeter as well. He threw down a nice one-handed slam against an overmatch Belton squad on Friday, and competed well against a bigger Olathe Northwest team later in the day.
Omar Stanley, 6’6, F, 2020, Hogan Prep (Mo.)
Stanley is listed at 6’6, but he plays much bigger than his listed height. He is an active big man at both ends of the floor, is a good shot blocker and challenges opposing players when they enter his area. He is a good finisher around the bucket and does a good job of making himself available in the paint for easy passes.
Dale Talley III, 6’3, G, 2019, Shawnee Mission Northwest (Kan.)
A long, rangy wing player with a smooth game, Talley is a rising standout in the 2019 class in Kansas. He handles the ball well and sees a lot of the SMNW offense run through him. He showed off a perimeter jumper on Friday, knocking down several perimeter jumpers, as well as the ability to attack the bucket.
