Class of 2019 PG Breakdown
Solid group of point guards in the class of 2019. This group has 14 players in the overall top 100. Might not be a true superstar at the position, but quality depth.
With the transfer of Uplift point guard Markese Jacobs to out of state prep school Hillcrest it left a void at the top of the point guard rankings. The top dog is now Simeon’s Kejuan Clements. He is more of a scoring combo than true point. Athletic prospect that handles it well and can get to the rim. Closely behind him is Donavon Moore (Hillsboro). Not a lot of people know about this top 10 prospect because he was injured last high school season, but he is a dynamic combo guard with size and the ability to score from all three levels. The third in a trio of mid-major caliber point guards is Joseph Yesufu. The Bolingbrook star is under six foot, but he is a quick twitched guard that breaks defenders down off the bounce and gets to the rim. Playmaker in the open floor.
The next tier of potential D1 players at the position is pushed by Dashon Enoch (OPRF). He is a scoring combo guard that likes to put his head down and get to the rim with his strength. Enoch has improved his jumper. Marquise Walker (Curie), Chris Roberts (Lincoln Park), Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook), Jeremiah Washington (Bogan), and Artese Stapleton (Kenwood) each have low-major ability out of the Chicago area.
A D2+ prospect that we really like is Nashville point guard Bryce Bultman. The 6’4” point guard has size and tremendous vision with the ball in his hands. Eric Cannon out of Waubonsie Valley is another high IQ point guard that projects as a quality D2 prospect. He isn’t the biggest or most athletic, but he knows how to play the game and get others involved. Nolan Niego (Lyons), Zach Touissant (Johnsburg), Isiah Burd (Bolingbrook), and Treye Tucker (Christian Life).
