Class of 2018 Small College Wings
Next up we take a dive into the small college wings that can make an impact at the D3 and NAIA levels for the next four years.
Eric Peterson (Batavia)
Overall Rank: #71
Travel Team: Tri City Thunder
Peterson is a 6’3” lengthy shooting guard in the 2018 class out of Batavia. High IQ player that understands the game. Peterson shoots it well from three off the catch and can mix in a runner on occasion. Makes sound decisions with the ball as a wing passer. Like what he brings to the table on the defensive end.
Joffari Brown (St. Joseph’s)
Overall Rank: #79
Travel Team: Chicago Lockdown
Super productive wing that has put up numbers throughout his career. Brown is a great mid-range shooter and is tough on the glass. A player that just gets stuff done!
Ryan Phillips (Jacobs)
Overall Rank: #85
Travel Team: Wisconsin Playground Warriors
The Jacobs 2018 shooting guard is coming off a strong junior campaign where he provided a lot of the outside presence to open up things for their all-state post. Phillips is a floor spacing shooter. He is best shooting it from beyond the arc off the catch.
JT Wheeler (Tolono Unity)
Overall Rank: #88
Travel Team: Illinois Irish
The 6’5” small forward really shoots it well from deep. We liked what we saw out of him drilling shots consistently from beyond the three point arc this spring. Pure shooting stroke with great mechanics.
Jake Kosakowski (Whitney Young)
Overall Rank: #93
Travel Team: Wisconsin Playground Warriors
Big wing from Whitney Young that has a thick body. He is best as a spot up shooter particularly from the corners.
Seth Kizer (Limestone)
Overall Rank: #94
Travel Team: Illinois Irish
This 6’7” wing has gotten significantly stronger over the last year. He can still do what he has for years which is shoot it from the perimeter. Kizer has a pure stroke out to the three point line. Would like to see more out of him beyond shooting.
Kenyon Duling (Morgan Park)
Overall Rank: #95
Travel Team: Caron Butler Elite
Duling is a physical 6’2” wing that brings a lot of toughness and power to the table. He gets after it on the defensive end with his nonstop motor. Won’t let opposing wings feel comfortable. Gets out for occasional transition scores. Rebounds well. He can hit the three, but at times is streaky.
Caleb Frederking (Okawville)
Overall Rank: #96
Travel Team: Illinois Bears
The 6’2” two guard has a quick release on a plus jump shot. Dead eye shooter that can get really hot from deep. Loves to stop and pop from mid-range. Moves well without the ball and has an effortless feel to his game.
Ryan Cicenas (Riverside Brookfield)
Overall Rank: #98
Travel Team: Mercury Elite
Sound perimeter shooter who is also a sneaky athlete that will emerge as floor spacer at the next level.
Damond Crosby (Salem)
Overall Rank: #100
Travel Team: Illinois Bears
Crosby has a long and lanky frame with good athleticism. He shoots it well from mid-range both off the catch and bounce. Gets elevation off the floor. Once he establishes the jumper he can attack a bit off the bounce. Still has a ways to go with his ball skills, but he is getting much better being assertive with it.
Ian Burns (La Salette Academy)
Overall Rank: #107
Travel Team: KC Pacers
Burns is a 6’5” combo forward that is very athletic. He is bouncy and showed that getting out in transition and finishing above the rim for a couple nice dunks when we saw him this spring. Also mixed in a few mid-range jumpers. Projectable prospect that would be a nice high ceiling small college prospect. He has a 34 ACT and wants to major in engineering.
Brian Hernandez (Orr)
Overall Rank: #113
Travel Team: Team Rose
This Orr 2018 shooting guard is a thick bodied wing that is tough as nails. He is best spotting up from three and letting it fly. Can be streaky at times, but can get really hot from deep. Gritty defender that also competes on the glass.
