Class of 2018 PG Stock Risers
What point guards boosted their stock the most in the latest PHI 2018 rankings? We look at them here!
Tyronn Mosley (Orr)
Previous Rank: #70
Current Rank: #23
Mosley started out the high school season as a potential athletic power forward and finished the year as the starting point guard on a state championship team. The 6’5” point guard has great length and his feel for getting others involved has greatly improved over the last year. Also is a major impact player on the defensive end of the floor getting after it defending on the ball and getting in passing lanes. Low-major to mid-major prospect.
Maurice Commander (Curie)
Previous Rank: #51
Current Rank: #29
Commander is a lefty point guard that plays with a high IQ. He is making the transfer over from Marist to Curie for his senior season. Last year at Marist he won co-conference player of the year. Quick and shifty with the ball in his hands. Has the ability to get others involved in the half court. Low-major prospect.
Branden Ellis (Warren)
Previous Rank: #87
Current Rank: #38
Ellis is a two sport star shining in both track and field along with on the hardwood. He elevated his stock late in the spring with his play for Kessel Heat 17U. We were impressed with the progress he has made in his all-around game. Good athlete that has speed in transition and is improving with his decision making as a passer.
Isaiah Fuller (OPRF)
Previous Rank: #71
Current Rank: #61
Fuller flies a bit under the radar, but this projectable point guard has some tools that make him intriguing for D2 schools. This spring with Team Rose he has impressed with his defense at the point of attack. Puts pressure on opposing point guards. Offensively pushes it in the open floor and can hit an occasional jumper.
Michael Smith (Joliet West)
Previous Rank: #80
Current Rank: #63
Smith closed out the spring with a big performance at the PrepHoops Showme Showdown. The 6’2” point guard can really get hot shooting it from deep. Best off the catch, but can also connect pulling up. Has the ability to finish at the rim with acrobatic finishes. Smith projects as a D2 prospect.
