Carvers Bay Bears Jamboree Final Day
Prep Hoops returned back to the Carvers Bay Bears Jamboree today for the last day of action. Here is a few kids that stood out today.
Shaquan Davis (2018) – Summerville HS
Davis 6’5 is a ultra-athletic kid that loves to play above the rim. Davis runs the floor like a deer and flushes everything down with a dunk if given the opportunity. Davis will use his left-hand to finish around the cup when needed. Davis plays wide receiver on the football field. Davis play AAU with TMP.
Johnathan Bennett (2019) Summerville HS
Bennett recently the Green Wave and played in his first summer games today here at the Carvers Bay Bears Jamboree. Bennett the starting quarterback has already received scholarship offers from Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State, Georgia State and Charlotte for football. Bennett is a physical guard who’s very vocal on the floor. Bennett plays AAU with Upward Stars Southeast 2019 but told Prep Hoops today that he doesn’t plan on playing this summer so that he can concentrate on football.
Lach Dancy (2018) Waccamaw HS (Pawleys Island)
Dancy started his high school career at Low Country Prep before transferring over last season. Dancy averaged 11.3 ppg and 4.5 rebounds last season for the Warriors 15-10. Dancy has the ability to hit the 3 ball and likes to pop off screens for open looks.
Connor Heimberger (2018) Waccamaw HS (Pawleys Island)
Heimberger 5’9 is a left-handed guard that averaged 10.5 ppg last season for the Warriors. Heimberger is not overally athletic or skilled but he’s a crafty player who can knockdown open shots when given the chance.
Quinton Alston (2018) Kingstree HS
Alston 6’5 is very athletic and moves around the floor like he’s gliding. Alston finished on contact today along with filling the lane in transition. Alston didn’t shoot as much on the perimeter today than in the past. Alston averaged 18.6 ppg and 7.2 rebounds last season for the Jaguars. Alston plays 3 sports at Kingstree HS (football, basketball and baseball).
Direlle McGee (2019) Kingstree HS (pictured on front)
McGee was a pleasant surprise these past few days for the Jaguars. McGee was seeing a lot of playing time with Koby Fulton (not in attendance back in New York) according to new Head Coach Earl Brown Jr. McGee hit several open mid-range jumpers, floaters in the lane and was always around the ball. McGee was the quarterback, halfback and free safety last season on the gridiron for the Jaguars. McGee averaged 9.3 ppg last season.
