Checkout the latest here in this article about 2018 players from Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties school districts. This area of the state produced Brice Johnson (UNC/LA Clippers), Mike Williams (Clemson/San Diego Chargers) De’Riante Jenkins (Virginia Commonwealth) Zam “Buck” Fredrick (Georgia Tech/South Carolina – scored 3,481 points at Calhoun County HS and Alshon Jeffery (Philadelphia Eagles) just to name a few players.
Zam Fredrick – Calhoun County (St Matthews)
Fredrick has great bloodlines and plays for his father at Calhoun County HS. Fredrick a undersized shooting guard won’t hesitate to pull-up from 25-30 feet and let it go. I’ve personally seen these several times. Fredrick is generally a catch-shoot type of guy. Fredrick played AAU this past spring with the South Carolina Hornets.
Kristopher Bonaparte – Calhoun County (St Matthews)
Bonaparte tends to play the point guard spot here for this three headed monster in the back court for the Saints. The Saints press you, trap you, bite and grab (just joking) physical all-out play at all times. The Saints look to create offense off turnovers and constant chaos. Bonaparte has the ability to hit open shots.
Nyriek Milligan – Calhoun County (St Matthews)
Milligan arrived here during the season and got eligible at the semester break. Milligan came from the Upstate before joining the Saints. Milligan is just 5’10 and is a pesky defender on the ball. Milligan really gets up in your grill and creates havoc. We decided to add Calhoun County to this mix since there were just the Saints in there neighboring county.
Yohannes Utsey – Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS
Utsey 6’6 post player can play with back to the basket and thrives on contact in the paint. Utsey is a blue collar guy who plays with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Utsey can step out to the elbow and hit a short jumper. Utsey tends to rebounds on both ends of the floor very well. Utsey plays AAU with the Orangeburg Xpress
Jordan Snell – Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS
Snell 6’2 plays AAU with the Carolina Wolves. Snell can shoot the 3 ball or shoot the mid-range jumper. The Bruins will look to improve on there 10-15 record this past season.
DeVante Scott – Hunter Kinard Tyler (Neeses) (pictured on front)
Scott a quarterback for the Trojans football team brings a great toughness to the floor. Scott has a strong frame and can hit the baseline jumper. Scott is always on the move around the floor. Scott helped the Trojans to a 17-4 season last year on the hardwood.
Roderick Pam – Bethune-Bowman (Rowesville)
Pam 6’0 guard runs the offense for the Mohawks.
Darius Middleton – Bethune-Bowman (Rowesville)
Middleton 6’0 left-handed forward likes to hit the floater in the lane and plays a bit of a old-school game.
