Around the State : Darlington and Lee Counties Underclassmen
Prep Hoops takes a look at the underclassmen in Darlington and Lee Counties in this article.
Trae Hannibal (2019) Hartsville HS (pictured on front)
Hannibal is a extremely explosive guard who can really get to the basket and get his own. Hannibal plays multiple sports for the Red Foxes. Hannibal has a great knack to score the ball from all 3 levels on the floor. Hannibals runs AAU with the Carolina Wolves and most recently with the Karolina Khaos.
Demonte Capehart (2020) Hartsville HS
Capehart 6’4 plays in the post for the Red Wolves. Capehart and Edwards brings a good future to the Red Foxes. Capehart can really block out and grab rebounds on both ends of the floor. Capehart will play football for the tradition rich Red Foxes this coming season. Capehart ran AAU with Big Shots South Carolina 15U this spring.
Cesar Edwards (2021) Hartsville HS
Edwards just a incoming freshman should see major minutes for the Red Wolves this coming season. Red Foxes Head Coach Yusuf English is excited to have Edwards on the roster and he will get a chance to play from Day 1.
Tyshaun Johnson (2019) Darlington HS
Johnson is the younger brother of current guard Citadel guard Frankie Johnson. Johnson a point guard himself averaged 5.1 ppg and 4.5 assists last season for the Falcons. Johnson is more of pass first point guard compared to his brother Frankie who could get to the rack and score you a bucket when needed. Johnson attends Mayo High School in Darlington.
Ja’Curas McCloud (2019) Lee Central HS (Bishopville)
McCloud has come into his own player this spring playing with the Carolina Pressure. McCloud should look to get quality minutes this coming season for Stallions. McCloud 6’1 has really good elevation on his shot but at times he can be a very streaky shooter. McCloud should join forces with Daequan Thomas and Amadric Mixon in the back court this coming winter for the Stallions.
Jordan Jones (2020) Trinity-Brynes HS (Darlington)
Jones recently transferred over to the SCISA school for next season. Jones a left-handed guard played his freshman season at South Florence HS. Jones 5’9 is quick to the cup and plays with a fearless attitude on the floor. Jones should be a good solid piece to the puzzle here for the Titans this coming season. Jones runs AAU with Big Shots South Carolina 15U.
