Around the State : Charleston County Underclassmen Part 1
The talent in Charleston County looks very promising in the years to come in the Palmetto State. Read more in this article about some of the top underclassmen.
Isaiah Archie (2019) – Oceanside Collegiate Academy (Mount Pleasant)
Archie will look to lead the Landsharks now with his older brother Greg moving on and graduating. Archie really gets the ball into the gaps and shows a nice mid-range game. Archie plays with a fearless attitude on the floor.
Shane McCravy (2019) – Oceanside Collegiate Academy (Mount Pleasant)
McCravy started his career at Porter Gaud before heading over to Oceanside Collegiate Academy last season. McCravy plays with the Southern Stampede 16U on the EYBL AAU Circuit. McCravy has good length and a nice mid-range game. McCravy averaged 12.5 ppg last season for the Landsharks.
Jaden Anderson (2019) – Burke HS (Charleston)
Anderson 6’5 is a long and wiry athlete. Anderson who has great length still seems to be learning the game with lack of feel at times. Anderson is a rim runner and covers a lot of ground on the floor.
Dal’Mont Gourdine (2019) – Garrett Academy (North Charleston) (pictured on front)
Gourdine 6’6 post player is a load in the paint at times. Gourdine works it from block to block. Gourdine will throw his rump into you down low and back you down in the post. Gourdine really likes to move and screen with his thick frame. Gourdine plays AAU with the Charleston Playmakers.
DQ Vinson (2019) – James Island HS
Vinson 6’4 plays quarterback on the football team. Vinson’s dad played football for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Vinson fills the lane in transition and is is very athletic.
Logan Ammons (2019) – James Island HS
Ammons shooting guard has transferred into James Island HS from Northwood Academy. Ammons plays AAU with TMP 16 U with fellow teammates Vinson and Davis. Ammons is a nice piece to the Trojans starting lineup.
Lawton Davis (2019) – James Island HS
Davis is the son of Richard Davis (Owner of TMP – TradeMark Properties). Davis a left-handed shooter can hit open shots when given the chance.
Romello Grant (2019) – Stall HS (North Charleston)
Grant recently transferred into Stall HS from Military Magnet. Grant has had a great spring playing AAU with Charleston Strong. Grant a running back on the football field averaged 16 ppg last season at Military Magnet. Grant really plays with no position on the floor and loves to score all his points at the rack.
Jalen Bailey (2019) – Stall HS (North Charleston)
Bailey will look to join Grant at Stall HS. Bailey a left-handed point guard shoots the ball at a very successful rate from downtown. Bailey is quick with the ball and can really turn the corner. Bailey a quarterback on the football field averaged 11.2 ppg last season.
Seth Rivers (2019) – Stall HS (North Charleston)
Rivers 6’5 plays in the post for the Warriors. Rivers who plays below the rim stays in the paint and won’t look to wonder out on the perimeter. Rivers plays AAU with TMP 16U.
