2019 Rankings Breakdown: Beltway Forwards Part 3
As the breakdowns for the 2019 player rankings continue, take a look at the breakdown from the Beltway area forwards part one here, and part two here.
Below, we continue our breakdown of the Beltway area guards that were included in the rankings:
COLE MATTHIESEN | 6’5 F | ST. ALBANS/MID ATLANTIC SELECT | #37 OVERALL
Matthiesen has always been a high IQ forward who moves well off the ball, but we’ve been impressed with his progress while in possession. The 6’5 wing is in better shape this year, and appears ready to take on a primary playmaking role.
ISAIAH GROSS | 6’4 F | ELEANOR ROOSEVELT/DISTRICT | #43 OVERALL
Gross is a glue guy that will always find a way to contribute even if he’s not scoring. The athletic and strong wing is a good shot blocker, and a force on the glass. Gross can make shots, and is a strong finisher inside.
JAMEL MELVIN | 6’9 F | DEMATHA/TEAM BBC | #52 OVERALL
Melvin is a long and lanky forward with natural rim protecting ability. He displays good timing, and a soft touch from the middle areas of the floor.
WALTER ROUSE | 6’6 F | SIDWELL FRIENDS/DC PREMIER | #53 OVERALL
Rouse is a stocky forward with nice footwork and fundamentals. He’s a good passer from the post, and can finish well through contact.
ARMANDS BERKIS | 6’7 F | SAINT JAMES /6TH MAN WARRIORS | #54 OVERALL
Berkis is a high motor forward with a well built frame. He can shoot the three, attack off the dribble, and finish strong at the rim. Berkis is a good rim protector who gets off his feet quickly.
