Prospect Spotlight: DaShawn Dupervil (2021)
(2021) Wing DaShawn Dupervil
Rising freshman guard DaShawn Dupervil has had an impressive summer with TEAM UP. The 2021 lead guard is a major scorer first. He can also facilitate when the paint starts to clog and teams focus on his dribble drive ability. He has a solid feel for the game and makes quick passes to his teammates. He is constantly moving without the ball and is a fierce defender. Plays with toughness and has leadership potential. He will need to show that more this season as potential freshman varsity player for Timberline High School in Lacey, WA. He is a shoot first combo guard but can also slow the pace down and get a team into its sets. When he is looking to attack the basket, he can mix it up well with an occasional three of the catch.
I was able to catch up with DaShawn and ask him a few questions. Here is what he had to say…
- How is the AAU season going and what would you say your best qualities are as a ball player?
“This past season went fairly well, we had our great moments and moments we could have improved on. The whole team has grown as a family and brothers. I’ve had a good season. I’m currently putting up solid numbers across the board. I would say my strengths include driving to the basket, shooting, hustling, speed and my jumping ability”
- Who are you currently playing for and with the off-season right around the corner what are some things you would like to tighten up?
“I look to improve my left hand finishes, ball handling and scoring from the perimeter. I want to be able to finish at the rim using both left hand and right hand. I currently am playing for TEAM UP and the coaching staff there has me on a regiment where I get 2 days of speed and agility and 3 days of gym work along with weight lifting to add some size to my frame.
