UAA Indy: Five 2018’s That Stood Out

This past weekend we spent time on the shoe circuits looking at what Nike and Under Armour had to offer. It was impressive to say the least. Now, we take a look at the most impressive as we offer up five players in 2018 that stood out from UAA this weekend.
Jordan McCabe – 6’0 | PG | 2018 | Kaukauna (WI) | Wisconsin Playground Warriors 2018 – McCabe is a fun, creative point guard who can really shoot the ball. Was a little too free with his passing but plays with a lot of flair. Really quick release and has ultimate confidence in his game. Needs to reel in some of his passes and look to drive a little more. Good lead guard who can set a tone and provide a ton of offense. Already committed to West Virginia.
Damion Baugh – 6’3 | CG | 2018 | Cane Ridge (TN) | Team Thad 2018 – Baugh is a long, lanky guard who is really good in transition and fairly creative. Has good size but solid enough with the ball in his hands that he could play the point in a pinch. Really athletic and quick where he can penetrate well and score at the rim. Jumper needs work but he isn’t looking to shoot a ton right now. Does well defensively with his length and athleticism that he can defend either guard spot.
Drew Peterson – 6’8 | SF | 2018 | Libertyville (IL) | Illinois Wolves 2018 – Peterson is a skinny forward with great handles and a solid stroke. Will need strength on the frame but he handles the ball like a guard and is creative with it, getting into the mid-range and can pull-up on a dime. Really good shooter from the mid-range but needs to get better from distance. Once he adds strength, he could really develop into a high-end talent.
LaTrayvion Jackson – 6’7 | PF | 2018 | Western International (MI) | G3 Grind 2018 – Tra is a long, bouncy forward with some upside. Really solid around the rim as he plays with energy and toughness. Needs to bring that every game but he’s really good when he does. Good offensive rebounder and finisher at the rim where he has good length and a quick two-footed jump. Really lacks build on his frame but has some strength. Could be a guy that needs a year of development as most skills don’t play outside of the paint.
De’Avion Washington – 6’3 | SG | 2018 | Terre Haute South (IN) | G3 Grind 2018 – Washington is a big, strong guard with an improving motor. Has really improved with the ball in his hands. Can create into the lane and agile enough to get a lot of shots off. The form on his jumper looks much improved but isn’t hitting right now. His driving ability provides his offense and he can really go at times. Off-guard with upside as he works in the new jump shot.
