Stock Risers: 2020 Prospects
The spring session of the AAU circuit is just about over and we are taking a long look at some of the top players we saw this spring. With this, we want to take a look at some of the biggest risers in the class from the last few months. Here are the top 2020 prospects that have improved their stock.
Sam Comer – 6’3 | SG | Danville (IN) | GP Premier 2020-O’Connor – Sam has really taken his game and ran with it this spring. He’s not a guy that is well known for a couple reasons but should be sooner rather than later. He’s playing against a higher level of competition and still performing at the same level.
Gavin Dowling – 6’4 | C | Center Grove (IN) | GP Premier 2020-O’Connor – Dowling was a kid we saw last fall and weren’t quite sure how good he would be. However, we have seen him a few times this spring and he’s continually impressed with his athleticism, footwork, and speed and doing it at his size.
Matthew Jones – 6’7 | C | Lafayette Jefferson (IN) | IE Central 2020 – Jones has really trimmed the body up and added a few more inches. Still fairly raw in terms of scoring ability but legit size and an improved frame makes you feel like he can hit his ceiling a bit easier. Now it is all about adding that skill in.
Jack Townsend – 6’1 | SG | 2020 | Bloomington North (IN) | Team Blaze Select 2018 – Jack is a guy that has had a really solid high school season and is showing more and more of his game this spring. Mainly a three-point threat, he’s now driving and handling the ball a bit more, adding more diversity.
Anthony Leal – 6’3 | SG | 2020 | Bloomington South (IN) | Indiana Elite 2020 – Leal has always been known as a shooter but he until this spring he has stayed in his lane. Now, he’s much more active on and off the ball, showing improved athletic ability and handles. Those things could really help with his upside.
Trey Galloway – 6’3 | SG | 2020 | Culver Academies (IN) | Indiana Elite 2020 – Galloway had to prove he wasn’t just a skinny kid that we would wait on for strength. He’s done just that. He’s playing strong and handling himself against bigger, stronger talent. His upside is really high once he actually adds more strength.
Brandon Bell – 6’2 | SG | 2020 | Mt. Vernon-Fortville (IN) | Indy Heat 2020 EYBL – Bell was a guy we were waiting on to find out just what he was going to be. Was he a wing, a guard, a point guard? We weren’t sure. Still might not be that sure but more and more skill is showing up when we watch and the upside continues to rise.
Chris Grubbs – 6’5 | SF | 2020 | Hamilton Southeastern (IN) | G3 Grind 2020 – Grubbs was similar to Bell in that we weren’t sure what he would be. This spring he has shown that he can be a guy that handles the ball from the wing and score but plenty of size to still be a factor in the post. More capable in the post than originally thought.
