Recruiting Report: Tamell Pearson (2018)
Morgan Park post Tamell Pearson had quite a performance in EYBL session 2. The 6’8” 2018 power forward from Morgan Park is mostly known as a rebounder that can occasionally contribute an easy bucket or two. He showed much more than that with his play in Indy. Pearson was aggressive when he touched the ball on the block. Couple quick baseline drives and a nice right handed hook shot. Most aggressive we have seen him throughout his career offensively. Snatched rebounds at a solid clip. If he can continue to improve as an offensive player while maintaining his rebounding presence he will be one of the more coveted post players in Illinois.
Pearson broke down his first experience playing on the biggest stage in high school basketball.
“EYBL is going great. I have to adjust to all the 7-footers and big men. They are big guys, but I am faster than them. Overall it is going well.”
What are some areas he is focusing on in his development?
“This spring and summer some of the things I can improve on are my 15 foot shot and mid-range. Really getting to the basket and getting bigger defenders in foul trouble.”
It was a successful season for Pearson and the Mustangs as Morgan Park won the 3A title.
“Junior went well. I saw a lot of things and experienced a lot of things. It is helping me going into senior year. The state championship was great. The new environment got me great experience playing down there.”
The post updated where things stand with his recruitment.
“My recruiting is going good. I recently talked to Missouri State and Arkansas State. UTEP has offered. I have also heard from SIU and Drake.”
UTEP was his first offer.
“They are a great school. They move the ball around a lot which is what I like. They play an up-tempo style like Nick (Irvin) does.”
In the last few days Pearson has added a trio of offers from Oklahoma State, Northern Illinois, and Cleveland State.
