Recruiting Report: Talen Horton-Tucker (2018)
Simeon 2018 wing Talen Horton-Tucker is a 6’5” small forward that has a strong body. The Simeon wing is the #3 prospect in the 2018 class due to his immense versatility. He has a shiftiness to his game which allows him to break down defenders and get to the cup. Sound passer that makes quality decisions with the ball finding open teammates for good looks. THT rebounds well and can hit a three off the catch. His recruitment continues to soar. We caught up with him after EYBL session #2 to see where things stand.
He has had a big start to the Nike EYBL with the Mac Irvin Fire where he dropped a triple double in one of the games in Hampton.
“It was constant. I had a triple double in Hampton the second game. I was playing steady. Playing with Ayo (Dosunmu) and Demarius (Jacobs) those are my real longtime friends so it is fun.”
What has it been like playing against the best of the best in the Nike EYBL on the 17U level?
“Last year we played 16s and went against a lot of top guys, but this year in the first session we played three of the top five players in the country. That means a lot going up against them. We beat one of them. It means a lot after coming off a good high school season.”
Since we spoke with THT a few weeks ago some more schools have jumped in the mix.
“I just got offers from Boston College and Illinois. West Virginia has started talking to me. Pretty much the same schools with all the offers. I have about 13 offers. Xavier, Northwestern, Michigan State, Purdue, and Creighton.”
He broke down Boston College.
“They are really nice. I haven’t seen them, but I have heard a lot about them. I will have to start watching them a lot more and talking to the coaches.”
What stands out about Illinois?
“It is the hometown school. It means a lot for them to come after me. That means my in-state school is looking at me. The old coaches weren’t talking to me so it means a lot that this staff is.”
The Simeon wing tells us that there is a pair of schools that he would like to get out to in the near future.
“I am probably going to go down to Xavier and Purdue soon.”
