Recruiting Report: Luke Nauman (2018)
St. Ignatius 2018 post Luke Nauman is an undersized 6’4” power forward that plays bigger than his height. Strong and physical frame. He is effective on the offensive end getting on the glass for put backs. Quick to the boards for second chance opportunities. Plays with a ton of toughness inside. Not a big time scorer, but he does make an occasional quick move on the block. Nauman should be on the small college radar.
Nauman discussed his junior year at St. Ignatius.
“The year went pretty well. We had four juniors starting varsity. We played pretty well overall and are looking to have a good season next year. I thought I played really well. I thought I rebounded the ball a lot better and got a lot stronger. I got used to the varsity level last year so I am ready for next season.”
How much will playing a significant role this year help him as a senior?
“A lot of confidence. Playing a lot on varsity this year will help for next year. Mainly I am trying work on my jump shot right now.”
The four man runs with Chicago Lockdown 17U on the circuit.
“Everything is great. I love our coaching staff and my teammates. Everyone plays together. We are all really solid at defense. Not a lot of teams do that in AAU. My role is to get a lot of rebounds, play tough, hit open shots, and mainly do the dirty work inside.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I have heard from Augustana and Lake Forest. I also visited DePauw.”
He enjoyed his visit to DePauw.
“They are really friendly. I like the coach a lot. I like the school size too.”
Nauman told us what he will be looking for in his future college program.
“Mainly a place that is nice and friendly. A place I can feel is home for the next four years. A place where I have a real good relationship with the coach and teammates.”
