Recruiting Report: Josh Boulanger (2018)
Josh Boulanger is a 6’3” shooting guard out of Brother Rice High School. The 2018 wing flew a bit under the radar with the dominance of their senior backcourt duo last year, but we came away extremely impressed with what he brought to the table. First and foremost he is an outstanding rebounder for his position. Crashes the glass hard and high points the ball. Offensively he showed potential on a jump shot as he hit a couple threes when we saw him with Chicago Lockdown. Smooth and fluid athlete that is comfortable playing in transition. Handles could improve in the half court. Should be on the D2, D3, and NAIA radars.
He chatted with us about his season at Brother Rice.
“It was pretty good playing with Josh and Mike two Brother Rice legends. I just played my role and do what coach Frasor asked me to do. I played center some at 6’3”. That is what he asked me to do and it got me playing time.”
What did he learn from the backcourt duo playing alongside of them this past year?
“Come in every game and play 110%. You are not going to win if you are playing soft and not going hard every time.”
Boulanger spoke about his biggest assets as a player.
“My best strength is rebounding. I am a real good leaper. I have been developing my jump shot. That is really coming along. I hope it will be good by the middle of the season.”
How is it going with Chicago Lockdown 17U?
“I think the more we pass the ball the better we are as a team. We started off a little slow, but we are playing great as a team now. For the team I am a pure scorer and getting rebounds. Doing whatever coach asks me to do.”
He says he is focusing on improving his handles.
“Dribbling is my biggest weakness and thing I need to work on. For college being 6’3” I will have to be a guard.”
One school has been texting with him.
“I have heard from Augustana. That is about it.”
What will he be looking for in a program?
“Honestly it is pretty much financial basis. Also good coaching and academics.”
