Recruiting Report: Calvin Adams (2018)
Louisiana’s 40th-ranked 2018, Zachary 5-foot-11 point guard Calvin Adams has a big summer ahead of him, and hopes his lukewarm recruitment turns into offers.
Right now there are two Louisiana programs that are inquiring about the talented junior. He says his goal for the summer is to be seen by manyo more.
“My high school coach has been talking to the Xavier (of Louisiana) coach and the Northwestern State coach, and they’re supposed to be coming to some of my games to watch me and see what I can do,” said Adams.
“My goals for the summer are to get my teammates involved more and get some steals. We’re going to some big-time tournaments and I’m trying to get seen by some college coaches and get on their radar.”
With a good all-around skill-set in place, Adams will look to tweak some things this summer, and continue to improve his guard skills.
“I got better with my catch-and-shoot, but my strength is my pull-up, I don’t need too much space to get it off,” he said. “Also, my ball-handling (is a strength), I never really struggled too much with the that. My court vision is good, but it could get better.”
As a junior with Zachary, Adams says his role changed drastically from year’s past.
“My role changed a lot from my sophomore to my junior year. Sophomore year I was more of a facilitator, and this past season I needed to score a little bit more. It was a big difference because I had to take on more of a leadership role this year,” he said.
“I think I handled it (leadership) pretty well. I had a lot on my shoulders, I had to bring everyone together and make sure everyone was talking; just be a leader.”
This spring and summer he can be seen playing with the Stateline Raiders 17.
“My role is that I’m going to have to be one of the primary scorers,” said Adams. “And it should simulate what will happen next year during my senior season, because we lost a handful of seniors this year.”
