Recruiting Report: Alessandro Guzzon (2017)
Alessandro Guzzon came to the United States two years ago as a foreign exchange student from Italy. His top two states were he preferred to live were Indiana and North Carolina because of their basketball prestige. Guzzon ended up in Springville, Utah where he has attended 1A Merit Academy for the past two years.
Guzzon came to Utah with a goal of playing college basketball after graduation. He has achieved that goal by committing to Shasta College which is a junior college in California. Guzzon also had an offer from NAIA school Waldorf College which is located in Iowa. He decided on Shasta because of the relationship he built with the coach over the past few months. Guzzon feels like Shasta has a great program and the coach takes care of his players which is what he was looking for in a college.
Guzzon dominated at the 1A classification the past two seasons for Merit Academy. During his junior year, the 6’1 guard made 106 three pointers on the season. This is around 4.5 per game which is incredible regardless of what classification you play in. Guzzon is also a great passer and can create for his teammates especially in transition. He also a very nice pull game and can gets great lift on his jumpers. There will definitely be a transition for Guzzon as he goes from playing 1A high school basketball to the college level. The biggest thing he will need to do is hit the weight room over the summer.
I believe Guzzon has the potential to be a very good NAIA player after two years at Shasta College. He can play the point guard and the off-guard and if he continues to work on his game and in the weight room he will excel at the junior college level.
