Prospect Spotlight: Trenton White (2018)
Olathe East 2018 Trenton White is putting together a strong spring competing for the KC Spurs and hopes his hard work will translate in an opportunity at the next level.
A 6’4 2018 wing, White is a high basketball IQ player who brings intensity to the defensive end where he can guard a variety of players.
White says Olathe East had an up-and-down season as they competed with mostly a group of young players. The Hawks featured just one senior and only a handful of players with varsity experience, but finished strong and have a bright future ahead.
“We had a strong end of the season and I expect us to be one of the top teams in the sunflower league next year,” White said.
This spring, White has competed in three tournaments with the KC Spurs and says he is looking forward to the summer session ahead.
“It’s already been an exciting year,” he said. “This summer I’m really trying to focus on my individual game so I can become the best player I can be.”
Although he currently does not hold any offers, White has started to draw interest from several college programs, including Bethany and Central Christian and a look from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
A Kansas Jayhawk fan, White says the biggest influence on his game has been his older sister, Riley, who played on a state championship team.
“For club ball she played on one of the top five teams in the nation and for high school she got varsity minutes as a freshman at Olathe South who had a great girls team, they actually won state that year,” White said. “I’ve just always wanted to be as successful as her.”
